On October 9th, Jealous Butcher Records will release From The Land of Ice And Snow: The Songs of Led Zeppelin, a double-disc of Led Zep covers by M. Ward (“Bron-Yr-Aur”), the Long Winters (“In The Light”), Laura Veirs (“The Ocean”), Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla (“In The Evening”), and a host of other Pacific Northwest artists. Attempting a profound Zeppelin covers record is a daunting effort in and of itself, I’d say, as the chemistry between the original quartet (Page, Plant, Bonham, Jones) is integral to their tunes, but props are due to the Jealous Butcher crew for taking on a whopping set of 33 classics in one fell swoop. Not to mention a portion of the proceeds will be sent to a charity focused on music education.
